ATEX Support Contract
Inspec Systems Ltd has been supporting a Blue Chip Pharmaceuticals company for 3 years to achieve compliance with the requirements of ATEX/DSEAR. During this time we have worked with the Client and their Engineers to perform inspections of their electrical apparatus and develop action plans to address identified faults and snags.
Remedies we have successfully delivered include:
- Retrospective design of existing installations to demonstrate compliance with the requirements of BS EN 60079 part 14, including the provision of Descriptive Systems Documents, or 'Intrinsically Safe Cable Calculations'
- Replacing electrical apparatus which has become damaged, or which was not suitable for the hazardous area in which it was installed
- Improving cabling installation standards including the installation of transit frames, earthing and containment
As part of the process we have collated all relevant equipment data, as well as the results of ATEX inspections to BS EN 60079 part 17 and rectification works, into Inspec Systems bespoke Microsoft Access database to manage the process and provide the client with the necessary records. We have also compiled technical files for the installation including designs, manufacturers' documentation and certification including that provided by notified bodies.
Throughout we have helped the client to priorities and plan the work, as well as providing forecast costings and budgets to use resources effectively. We continue to work with the End User to develop ongoing inspection and maintenance procedures/plans to ensure their ongoing compliance with the latest standards and regulations.
